Christmas in July..

It's 06:12 now, and Kveta's plane is due to touch down in about 8 minutes time..

She's been away for 2 months.. visiting her family in the Czech Republic.

We've been in touch regularly while she's been travelling.. Telephone and email..

Pale as.. feeling the winter sun
Eating sun rays.

But can't beat the real thing.. I'm waiting eagerly to see her again.

She'll be taking a taxi from the airport and should be here, I'm guessing, between 08:00 and 09:00.. Possibly earlier.

I'm sure she will be updating her blog again soon..

US Health Care Bill to Compulsorise Vaccination

Some disturbing news about vaccination reached me a short while ago..

A new US Health Care Bill allows State funding of Vaccine Teams to Conduct ‘Interventions’ in Private Homes..

Read more here:

http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=51115

I am a firm believer that vaccination is a very bad move (as if our blood streams aren't toxic enough already!!), but compulsory vaccination, now that's just sick..

Actually I think the French have already enforced vaccination some years ago.. Could any french reader confirm that?

anyhow, here's more of the recent news about the new bill:

Ethics of Companion Animals

Recently I've received a couple of messages asking to give my opinion on companion animals..

1. From Elisa (you can read her full message here).. But, just for the record, here's the main part of her question:
.. So comes about a problem with my cats... surely, unlike myself, they are carnivorous, so I don't want to hurt them by restricting their diet to vegetables... but i also don't want to buy dead and tortured animals to feed them... I don't want to hurt poor animals to make their meal, but I also don't want to hurt them [the cats]... I love my cats... I don't know what to do... I feel forced to buy them meat or meat croquettes to give them food...

2. I also received an email from Muriel asking a similar question, her message is here: [she was actually responding after reading the Companion Animals article, on my main website]
..whilst I totally agree that in an ideal world (on its way :-)) people would not keep animals at all, I particularly would like to see a total ban on keeping so called exotic pets, and I believe much stricter laws on who is allowed to share their space with a furry friend, but as this is the way we have sadly over thousands of years of domestication made certain animals rely on us mainly dogs and cats, I cant see how we can undo this??? already in lots of countries wild dogs and ferral cats are rounded up and put to death in horrendous ways, surely a loving home with a companion human is better than this, at least until we do change the dream? I live with 3 cats they are free to come and go as they please, and I love them with all my heart and I know they love me, it is a very satisfactory living arrangement, I would love nothing better than to see humans, animals and all the natural world living in perfect harmony but until that day I believe some of our brothers and sisters are better off in kind loving homes..

Well, for those of you who don't know already, much of my view of keeping animals as pets can be found in an article on my main website entitled Companion Animals. OK, I never wrote that article, and there's no doubt the wording would be different if I had done, but in general it pretty much sums up and reflects my own opinion toward so called "pets", so I suggest you read that first to get a better idea of where I'm at.

OK.. The first issue I want to underline is, (and these are rough figures from the top of my head, so please don't quote them as complete fact), in an average lifespan, an average domestic cat living indoors with a loving family, will eat through flesh of 1 whole cow, 4 sheep, 3 pigs, 60 chickens and 500 fish.. (not to mention any small wildlife the cat itself takes the life of).

This cow, and 600 more lives, for your cat?

A dog, on the other hand, being slightly bigger on average, and with a more robust appetite, might quite easily be able to plow its way through several cows, a couple more sheep and pigs and a few dozen more chickens and fish..

Please correct me if you believe those figures are way off.. And by all means quote a more realistic scenario.. But whatever the true figures are, I think you might already understand the direction I'm headed in..

So.. Personally, and I ask myself this rhetorically, would I rather nurture and theoretically save the life of a cat, or should I chose instead to have mercy upon the lives of all those other animals??

Hmm.. Being also a firm believer in Karma, would I also choose willingly to take on an additional karmic debt of the slaughter of those animals? A death whose tortured raising and untimely and violent demise I would ultimately be responsible for as the so called owner of the supposed pet?

I already know where I personally stand on these issues, but these are perhaps questions that animal owners need to ask themselves..

Well.. that said, I am not void of sympathy for people that already have a companion animal before they started to question the ethics of keeping animals. I understand the love that can grow between the human and the animal, and how we would not want for them to be harmed.. And I fully believe that if we search hard enough, there is a satisfactory answer to every question..

I remember once some 20 years ago, that I got an unexpected visitor, from a kitten, on my doorstep... Already being vegan and having the mindset back then that I did not want to take on ownership of an animal, I knew the kitten was hungry and would probably die if I did nothing, so I went in to my tiny kitchen and cooked up some rice and lentils, mixedin some olive oil.. and after it'd cooled some, I took the bowl outside for the kitten, who hungrily ate everything.

For the following year, that cat visited me, called for me when she knew I was inside, and I always gave it something vegan to eat, which it never turned down.

I have no idea if someone else had taken it in, or if it was getting food elsewhere, but it certainly always seemed hungry..

After a year or so, I never saw it again.

Now I know that it's highly likely that the cats in question from Elisa and Muriel will already be hooked on certain foods, and I know that once hooked, old habits can be difficult to change, but where there is a will, there's a way..

I know also that for dogs, being more omniviorous in nature than cats, they can quite easily live long and healthy lives without ever eating meat at all, I've known one dog that thrived on raw vegan foods, and would even go in the garden and pull up carrots! (see also the story of brambles, a well aged vegan dog).

But cats, I'm told are trickier and supposedly need some kind of essential amino acid that can only be found in the flesh other animals..

Now personally, I'm as skeptical toward animal nutritional science as I am toward human nutritional science, but everyone has to make up their own minds on what's right or wrong, true or not, and if you believe in that science, and think your cat needs the tarine, or whatever the stuff's called, then you should know that it is also available as a supplement..

I'm not sure where it can be ordered from, but I can suggest you get in touch with fruitbat Anne who has a cat that was eating flesh less than 2 years ago, but I've heard is now on a vegan diet.. Perhaps you could ask her how that transition went for her cat.. You can find her on the iheartfruit.com forum too, which by the way, is also a great place to meet up with other fruitarians!

I wish to make clear that I am not in to forcing anybody to do anything, so I must say I am in disagreement with Muriel who states her belief that she would particularly like to see a total ban on keeping so called exotic pets. Personally, it makes no sense to me that it should be permitted for some people to keep some forms of animals, and for others to be prohibited from keeping other forms.. So although I don't agree with animals being kept and exchanged, bought etc, I disagree in a total ban. Prohibition never really helped anything..

Now, I've waffled on for long enough already, so I'll call it a day.. I hope that we will all find the answers we seek..

regards and love to all,
Mango.

Just 96 months left??

I've no idea how he did it, but good old gun toting, fox hunting prince Charlie predicts that we've just 96 months to save the planet.. That's just 8 years.. after that all the fat ladies will come out of the woodwork and sing..

But seriously, regardless of how he came up with his figures, it really does seem like the world is headed toward serious global environmental collapse.. and would not be at all surprised if his 8 year prediction was actually a generous overestimate.. Indeed, some might say we've already overstayed our welcome but have yet to fully realise it..

To read more about Charlie boys prediction, click here:

http://business.rediff.com/slide-show/2009/jul/10/slide-show-1-just-96-months-to-save-the-world-says-prince-charles.htm

Me? Well, I reckon we'll pull through.. despite some foreseeable hardships, there'll be a massive change in consciousness and a brighter future.. No time scale on any of that though..

Peace,
Mango.

Fruitarian Book - 6 - My Path to Freedom

A couple of weeks back I stumbled across a forum talking about a Swedish Fruitarian named Tørd Lyseving, a fruitarian of 24 years to date..

Always excited to meet another solely fruit eating person into fruitarianism, I googled around some, found his email, and got in touch with him, asking if he would be up for an interview on my blog.

Days later, I received an email reply back from him, and an agreement to be interviewed..

Author of 7 books, 6 in Swedish, and 1 in English, Tørd has kindly sent me a copy of his English book, "My Path to Freedom" Self-Published in 2005.

Tørd is 66 years young, and eats purely fruit. (Fruitarian since 1985).

His book arrived on Friday (17th July 2009), one day after I finally got around to sending him an Interview, and I spent the rest of the day reading it, finishing it less than 24 hours later, the following day around noon..

Picture from Swedish Newspaper Afton Bladet

Much of what he writes fully echoes my own sentiments.. - the effect diet has played in forming the apparent chaotic world we live in, and the global need for change..

Like myself, the guy seems to be another of us self-proclaimed eternal optimists, that believe that the world will change for the better, and that the revolution of consciousness needed for that change is really unavoidable..

He tells us how he got started on his fruitful path, and quotes insightful stories from his own past, together with many of his interesting thoughts on how things one day could be..

Sitting reading Tord's book

He also gets a little scientific at times, although I must hasten to add, it's not the kind of science one might expect.. He goes into the whole "Biological Transmutation" thing (never heard of it? - I have an article about that on my main website, here), I must admit, I skipped much of this as personally have no real desire to get into that kind of stuff anymore.. Similarly he gets a little mathematical at times, as he demonstrates some of the equations he's put together..

He envisions a free an radically different world, void of suffering.. - In his own words, taken from the book:

Freedom for me is freedom from disease, pain, premature aging and all ailments connected to this (which are degenerative symptoms), agressive behaviour, negative manipulation, negative thoughts and harmful power and control, including financial control, and it's my conviction and experience that fruit gives you this freedom.

and..

No love comes from meat, because meat creates disharmony. Fruit gives life and spiritual growth. eating fruit gives peace in body and mind.
I am not trying to prove anything; I just want to show a way of LOVE without battles, wars, disease, conflicts, jealousies and mistrust.

Anyone interested in reading his books, can go to Tørd's website and order them from there..

Keep watching here to read his interview when it is ready (I'll update this particular blog entry with a direct link to it once it has been published here)..

Peace and hugs to all,
Mango.

Fun Stuff - 4 - Free Trip to Mars..

Yeah, as if that's the place I'd rather be living..

Much as though I sometimes think "Stop the planet, I want to get off", Mars isn't exactly the kind of alternative place I'm envisioning.. So this post isn't really about going to Mars, or even leaving Earth - I figure I'll be here for a while yet..

No, it's just to let you know that if you were the slightest bit interested, Nasa will include your name on a microchip on the Mars Science Laboratory rover heading to Mars in 2011..

My certificate

To participate, head on over to The nasa website, and sign on up.

You can also see a world map, of others that are participating.. I signed up Kveta too.. just for the fun of it.. (she's still travelling in the Czech Republic). Maybe the Martians will spare us come the day of the revolution..

Kveta's Certificate

Actually, I shudder to think of the environmental resources used in powering whatever rocket NASA conjures up that heads to Mars.. Do I really want to be even a microchipical part of that? .. Too late now though, as I already have the certificates.. Doh!

Peace out,
Mango.

The Naked Rambler - Steve Gough

Have you heard of The Naked Rambler?

No? Well, he's this ex british marine who's become somewhat infamous for walking the entire length of Great Britain with just his boots and hat.

Despite what first impressions might make you think, the guy's pretty switched on and does what he does for a reason.

Namely to tell the world that the human body is not something to be ashamed of..

Back when I used to run my forum, he joined us for a brief while, offering his worldly insights, and the guy is clearly pretty switched on (although I don't believe the same can be said for his diet).. Sadly though the world is too screwed up to understand his message, and he has been repeatedly imprisoned for failing to cover up..

I always say, if the great white spirit had wanted us to run around naked, we would have been born that way..

I hope you love the poetry in the video, it put a big smile on my face..

peace,
mango.

Fluroide and rat poison.

Well, sort of following on from my last but one post, about why traditional science fails, just to kind of emphasize what I was saying there, I wonder how many people out there are aware of the history behind Fluoride..

For those of you that were possibly unaware, (hard for me to imagine that there are still some that might be!) fluoride is a highly toxic poison, a crude industrial waste byproduct from the aluminum and fertilizer industries, and a substance so toxic that it's also a major ingredient of some rat poisons..

And just how wickedly clever have our loving caring governing powers that be been, to hoodwink so many of us into believing they were doing us a favour by adding it to the water, and making it a major component of toothpastes..

If this is news to you, and you find it just a tad difficult to believe, I suggest you do a google search for fluoride and rat poison, or the truth behind fluoride.. go on, have a look.. wake up to the fact that much of medical industry science is fraudulent, and that without doubt, this world is totally screwed up.

Eat fruit,
Mango.
