Well, in my opinion, one begins benefiting immediately, but clearly that may not always be apparent to the practitioner..
In many cases, it may appear that the reverse might even be true, that one actually feels worse on a fruit diet, as at some point, detox will inevitably raise its ugly head and stick its gnarled clubbed foot in the door..
How long it will take to get totally clean will be different for each individual, taking from just weeks for some, and many months or possibly even years, for others..
It will all depend on age and state of health, and living environment, quality of fruit, and surely other factors that are too many to mention.
As a rule of thumb, the younger and healthier one is, the easier and smoother things should flow, and the quicker the benefits of fruitarianism should be visible..
To make it more clear what you actually have to contend with, I would like to mention a story Morris Krok mentioned in one of his books.
Morris had been on a predominantly fruitarian diet for some years (It's been some years since I read the story, so bare in mind that I'm quoting from memory, and don't have exact details of the story handy). Anyhow, he was in peak physical health and was running marathons on a pretty regular basis, often travelling around his country (south Africa) to attend different organised marathons..
On one particular occasion, he travelled to a town and checked in to a motel in preparation for a marathon due to begin the following morning.. That evening, while relaxing in his room, someone knocked at his door..
Morris got up to see who was there, and to his surprise, a woman he had not seen for many years stood in front of him. - An old flame.. - Let's call her Doris, just to give the story some added flavour. Morris and Doris had been going out together years previously, some time before Morris had moved onto a fruitarian diet.
Now Doris had heard rumors that Morris was in town and staying at the local Motel, so thought she would surprise him with an impromptu visit.. Not wanting to arrive empty handed however, she took a bar of chocolate along with her... And not just any old bar, mind, but a particular branded bar that she knew was (or had been) Morris's favourite..
Now Morris was taken aback and pleasantly surprised to see a familiar face in an unfamiliar setting, and for whatever reason or excuse he may have given himself, he decided to share the chocolate with Doris, and together, they slowly polished off the chocolate bar while reminiscing on days that once were..
...Now on to the result.. And this is pretty profound, so I really hope you can all learn something from it.. brace yourself!
The following morning, Morris awoke with terrible cramps.. I think in his legs, but they may have also been his stomach.. So severely it affected him, that he was not only unable to run the marathon he had intended, but also he recalls that it took him one whole week before he had fully recovered and felt his normal fit self!!
So think about that.. If it can take a healthy body one whole week to recover from just half a bar of chocolate, image how long it will take for a body to recover from 20, 30, 40, 50 years of constant dietary mistakes!?!?..
So please please don't expect immediate noticeable results, but do rejoice if you should get them!!

Wow it's hard to be fruitarian if you love meat. But I can imagine how much benefits you can get with fruits. Because fruits in enriched with different kinds of vitamins that our body needs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info
Wow, great read. Found you on Post on Fire. My GF is a total fruitarian to some extent,. She swears by it. I'm trying to get into the mix.

Thanks for the great post
*shrugs* For the past few weeks, I've been trying to find a way to execute some sort of "quick speed detox," and I had told no one about it either. Since I had MANY things I was pursuing.
ReplyDeletewell, for sure, I've manage to pull off quick digestion, and speed it up without taking a double-edge hit.
I guess for me, if I ate a "chocolate bar" like that, I would immediately contain the nasties, and purge it out in about 3-10 hours through digestion.
But if I were to eat 3 days of comfort foods, cooked foods, etc etc...also in big amounts...
Traffic jam.
Digestion and elimination takes longer. Waay longer.
I mean it usually took about 3-16 hours to digest any temporary amounts of non-fruits food (and this is like less than 3 days supply of such foods.). But more than that....I think it'll take like 1-2 days, to digest "one full non-fruity meal."
Oh yeah. dried noodles, processed foods, dairy....the major colon jammers for me, that it makes detox and delays of digestion quite..annoying. I had no way out of that one.
At this point, I have no answer for meats. But for sure, I recall as a pre-teen. Going on meats, digestion was delayed nevertheless. Addictions were strong. I got way too picky for fruits. Even fasting was just "impossible" and would ttrigger a headache if I tried to go without food for a while; during such days..man.

Well, let's just say I'm going to "experience" things that I have, my senses and answers set to already. In this case, the "quick detox" thing I'm trying to work out.
Personally, despite my solitary attitude, solitary is merely "right." I even go to points where I alter my body's reaction, and what it absorbs. If I find myself eating something that I have no wish to absorb into my body....yet only digest once swallowed; I usually got this knack of altering my bodily patterns by some sort of instinctive signal throughout myself. That any swallowed noodles, would not be a part of me. And only becomes poop within 6-10 hours. Hence I remain affected once it's digested..hahah
(Sadly, as long as the stuff remains in my body...the nasty effects are there too, for the duration. It's like being haunted by some robotic ghost..while I remain the host..hahah)
--------
But yeah, since we're playing with quantity here, without a way to alter "current physics" at this "time..."
I also find the "quick detox" handy. I usually eat LOTS of fruits, whether beforehand or after consuming any nasty stuff. Hence if my flesh is to be tainted with junk, the fruits would come in handy to swap places with the junk.
I find that first time detoxes...depending what one has been eatin' for the past..many years..yeah...it takes a long while...really long time. THat I feel the task is to have every nasty matter that is imbued in us...swapped place with fruits..hence detox comes in handy.
I hate to admit it, but when I try detoxing the first time, with such "small quantities" of fruit, while my body is made up of nothing but..mostly junk...I find purging all that stuff, and not having the fruit I seek; I would really suffer headaches..and my body's weight would take REALLY long to get back into the stature it should be in.
(Though I feel there is a way to have water become the pure matter in place of junk; but that's something else that I have no explanation nor words for...at this time at least.)
---
Crummy that I gave up the 43 day chain...but at least I'll have answers for the skeptics and novices who only depend on a person's experience...so here I am. HAH!
I'll indeed report back here once I get back to my all-fruit path; and see how it goes; once I execute the quick detox..hahah
(I'll say, I've been overeating for quite a bit now...and I wonder what words will materialize, as I cleanse all of it out..)
I was fruitarian but I was starving. I was vegetarian for five years prior, then vegan, then raw vegan, then fruitarian, the works. I couldn't last longer than two weeks without binging on food food and then puking and being plagued with stomach pain. When I slowly starting to eat cooked food again then adding dairy then eventually meat, my stomach got smaller, the stomach pain decreased by about half or more and I think better, I have more energy, I have stronger muscles and I can go longer without eating, my whole day isn't dedicated to thinking about eating, and I'm a lot more productive. I love the way people look when they are vegan/vegetarian. That healthy glow, clear skin eyes and white teeth. I love the thought of not eating animal products, but it feels so much better to be more balanced. I still have stomach pain but now it is bearable. I never felt satisfied eating just fruit and I would cry all the time especially when I smelled food being cooked or when I was invited to go out to eat... it was great when I did it for just the summer months but I took it too far and now it's nice to not be emotional about eating whatever my body tells me to eat. I think being fruitarian was having an eating disorder. Just letting people in on my own personal experience. I support everyone who can thrive on this or any similar diet. Just for me it caused a lot of hell but I learned a lot

ReplyDeleteHi Alice,
ReplyDeletesorry to hear you were unable to achieve success with fruitarianism, and have once more begun including animal flesh as part of your daily fare.. sounds like you were really not eating enough, and/or that you have an eating disorder.I honestly believe fruitarianism is achievable for anyone who perseveres, and genuinely understands the reasoning behind such a choice... it may help you to read up more about it before you try again (if you should ever decide to)...
