What we ate in June, and how much it cost..

As per usual.. here's a list of the food we bought last month..

Fruit Quantity Cost
Avocados 100 $81
Bananas 8kg $7.60
Capsicum 5 $1.00
Cherimoya 1kg $3.10
Durian 25 kgs (including shells) $76.85
Grapefruits 8kg $5
Grapes 32 kgs $62.00
Oranges 50kg $44.30
Pears 2.5 kg $2.18
Pineapple 3 $6
Tomatoes 10 kgs $11.30

Which is a total of $300.3.. Divide that by 30 (number of days in June), and split that in 2 (Kveta and I), and you can see we spent $5 a day on our food/fruit..

Now, this is even less than we normally spend.. Probably because we still had some food left from the previous month, but also you need to bear in mind, as always, that I fasted on the Fridays, and we did a juice feast too.. (details here)

And to see one totally random average day, then I recorded what we (kveta and I) ate on the 7th of June 2008:

07:00 juice from 3 oranges (me only)
09:30 half a durian each
11:30 juice from 3 oranges and 1 grape fruit (hand pressed)
12:15 half an avocado each
13:30 another half an avo each
16:00 3 tomatoes, 2 big avos, 1 chilli - mixed together (each)
17:30 another half an avo each
18:30 1 banana each
after 21:00 2 bananas and 1 apple (kveta only)

We don't really have a pattern, no 3 meals a day thing, generally we just eat when we feel to.. and as a very rough rule of thumb we are generally ready for food at about the same time.

Hugs,
Mango.

What we ate in May, and how much it cost

Once more, for the record, this is a chart of everything we ate during the month of May 2008..

Fruit Quantity Cost
Apples 6kg $6
Avocados 110 $83.65
Bananas 8kg $7.60
Capsicum 5 $1.50
Cherimoya 2kg $5.70
Cucumbers 5 kgs $11.13
Durian 53 kgs (including shells) $160.50
Grapes 30 kgs $56.00
Kiwi 6 $3
Mandarins 4kg $7.70
Oranges 25kg $21.06
Persimon 10 $5.10
Pineapple 8 $16.50
Tomatoes 27 kgs $36.50

Totalling $436 Which means that we averaged just over $14 (for 2 of us) each day on food.. That's roughly just $7 each! (Australian dollars per day).

Now that's budgetting! Considering that most people here would need easily 5 or more times that amount each day depending on the state of their toxicity.. feeding addictions such as tobaco and alcohol as well as the take-away fast food cravings that regularly also get appeased.

Bare in mind that we generally eat an average of 5 or 6 different things each day, that I fasted on Fridays, and that we did 9 or 10 days on mono grape juices, it should give a very rough idea of what we might eat on a daily basis..

We don't follow the traditional 3 meals a day plan.. rather we sort of graze throughout the day.

We don't really have a pattern. Just eat when we feel to.. and as a rule of thumb we are generally ready for food at about the same time.

To see more of what we eat on a more or less daily basis, then head over to Kveta's blog, where she tends to give rough summarys of what we both eat daily..

Hugs,
Mango.

Fruit Quantity Cost
Apples 15kg $11.92
Avocados 100 $80
Bananas 13kg $13.45
Cherimoya 14kg $11.28
Cucumbers 5.5 kgs $16.24
Durian 50 kgs (including shells) $151.50
Grapefruits 6 $2.5
Grapes 30 kgs $52.00
Longans 2.5 kg $13.44
Mandarins 1.5 kg $3.35
Honeydew Melons 1 $2

Pears 17 kg $16.36

WaterMelon 10kg $5.55

Totalling $376.22 Which means that we averaged $12.54 for 2 of us each day on food.. That's less than $7 each! (Australian dollars per day).

Proving once more that an all fruit fruitarian diet can be both economical as well healthy, practical, and environmentally agreeable.

Bare in mind that we generally eat an average of 5 or 6 different things each day, and that I fast on Fridays, it should give a very rough idea of what we might eat on a daily basis..

So we don't follow the traditional 3 meals a day plan.. rather we sort of graze throughout the day.

How much we spent on food in December 2007

Just to back up my recent post about economical eating, I thought I would start posting how much we spend on the fruit/food we eat..

From next month, I will post this information along with the posts of what we ate..

Anyhow, this is what we spent for both of us, foodwise during December 2007:

DSC01096.jpg DSC01096.JPG picture by mangodurianApricots - $17.95
Avocadoes - $89
Cherries - $35.69
Cucumbers - $9.63
Durian - $180.06
Longans - $26.21
Lychees - $13.58
Mangoes - $30
Rock Melon - $5
Nectarines - $23.60
Pawpaws - $14.79
Pineapple - $3
Tomatoes - $14.50
Watermelon - $45.91
Sweet Peas - $10.45

Total= $520.27 divide that by 31 (days in December), you get $16.78 and divide that by 2 (me and Kveta), you get $8.39 each..

So our grocery expenses put us back $8.39 Australian dollars each, each day.

Mount Warning.. NSW

Mango.

What I ate in December 2007

This is a list of all the food I ate during the month of December 2007.

So, if you divided the list by the number of days that I actually ate anything, you would get a somewhat simplified and rough idea of what I might eat on a daily basis..

However, it is probably true that on most days I eat a maximum of 4 or 5 different types of fruit, so I would not be eating all these fruits every day..

Also, you need to bear in mind that I fasted on 7 of the days in december, and on 3 others, I just drank watermelon juice. (see: days of fasting and feasting).

Kveta had roughly the same as I did, exepting that I ate more avos than she, and she ate more cucumbers than me, plus one banana..

Anyhow, here's the list: (the quantities quoted in the list are all rough educated guesses based on our accounting statistics..).

Apricots - 3.5kgs
Avocadoes - 70
Cherries - 3kgs
Cucumbers - 1.5kgs
Durian - 10kgs (approximate weight of just the flesh).
Longans - 2kgs
Lychees - 1 kg
Rock Melon - 1
Nectarines - 30
Pawpaws - 6kgs
Tomatoes - 7kgs
Watermelon - 35kgs
Sweet Peas - 1 kg

me on january 1st 2008 - after 10 days of minimal eating.

and this is what I ate in November 2007

hugs,
Mango.

A summary of everything I ate during November 2007.

People may be curious as to what this fruitarian eats.. Usually I don't bother writing it all down, but I've decided to do so once a month, giving a summary of what I ate the previous month.. (Kveta ate pretty much the same as I did, except slightly less avos, and a few more cucumbers)..
If you want to see more of what I eat on a day to day basis, then I suggest you go over to Kveta's blog.. she generally writes down what we both eat each day.. her blog is here:

http://fruitariankveta.blogspot.com

Anyhow, this is a stastical account of what I ate throughout last month (November 2007):
(Listed in order of quantity - pretty much most of it eaten mono..) (I did not eat anything on 4 of the days)

30 kgs of watermelon (blended and drunk).
60 avocados
10kgs durian (weight of just the flesh)
10 kgs papaya
20 mangoes
7.5 kgs tomatoes
3.5kgs Cucumbers
.75 kgs of Apricots
.75 kgs of Cherries
.75 kgs of Cherimoyas
.5 kgs longans
.2 kgs dates
.2 kgs peas

.. That about sums it up.. oh and I had one mouthful of water on one of the Fridays that I didn't eat..

Me sunbaking on one of the local beaches.

Hugs to all,
Mango.
